June is all about finding joy, feeling alive, being bold and giving yourself permission to design a life you love in The Coaching Café. Today, I’m going to tell you quite a punchy truth, but first grab your drink, find that cute little notebook you bought for just this occasion, and crack open your coloured pens.
It was somewhere around 1984, I was in junior school and I was one of those kids who really enjoyed school actually. The report came home. The line that has stuck out in the family archives?
“If only Jane would spend as much time doing her own work as she does helping everyone else in the class…”
I kind of like how it hints at where my future career might take me, but it’s also a damning inditement of how I was constantly trying to help everyone else, before taking care of my own stuff!
Hands up if you’ve ever caught yourself thinking:
“I’d love to do x, but first I have to…”
“God, that’s so selfish of me…”
“I’ll just make sure everyone else is sorted first…”
“I’ll just tidy up and then I’ll…”
You too, huh?
We all do it, but there is something you need to know.
