Holy cow! August.

Are you wondering where the hell the year is going too? I am slightly bewildered as to where the time is going. But, the good news is that August always feels like an opportunity to slow down and lean into that. You get to ask yourself, now that there is space, what do I want life to look like.

August is dreamy.

Long evenings. Conversations. Reading. Slowing down. Time where you can be present (if you let some of the other shizzle go!).

The theme for this month is Summer Dreams, Real Life.

Why?

Because the danger with August is that you end up making big dreams, which are then shelved for another year.

We’re going to be talking spaciousness, longing and turning dreams into reality - desire into action.

So, grab an ice-cream, pull out the picnic blanket and head to your favourite outdoor space with your notebook and pencil1.

How many times do you find yourself dreaming about what could be while you’re on holiday? It’s not by chance that I start Awakening Women’s Lives in September every year. There is something about that summer slowdown that helps us see things more clearly. We notice what’s important, what really matters, to us.

I don’t know about you, but I feel that when I’m away from the day-to-day pressures of work, home keeping, caring and the general grind, it gives me a different kind of sort of expansive time to think about things differently.

Long walks on the beach unlock different ways of thinking. Lazy conversations over a glass of wine with friends and family remind us of what matters. You get to admit to yourself what might feel more juicy in your life.

But this year, you’re going to commit to doing it differently. This time, at the end of the summer, you’re going to start acting on the big dreams, rather than just shelving them to be brought out again next summer, dusted off and lamented over.

I really want you to do The Honey this week. I will be doing it and I’d love for you to try it too. It’s such a powerful exercise to start to give yourself permission to explore what’s possible.
